My new Hot Rod project

I had this little bugger when I was 10 years old - lots of great memories. It's a Dart Kart, a pretty slick frame. Anyway, dad dug it out of the storage and gave it back to me. As you can see, there is no engine. I had 2 different configurations: a 2.5 HP and a 5 HP setup. After I left home, my younger brother grenaded the 5 HP Briggs, so it's got no motor now. I'm thinking a big metal flake red paint-job and a new 5 HP briggs!

What do you think?

Base the engine size on the same ratio of your weight then and now.....for me that would be a huge engine...lol

"then and now" lets don't talk about that. Cool project!

That kart will be fun no matter what you put in it... I made a homebuilt kart about that size in the 80's that had a Suzuki GT 185 2 cylinder 2 stroke 5 speed...it was a screamer for sure.

Yep...for the same power to weight ratio today I'll need a 10HP! Maybe a vintage Mccolloch 92

Nice you should try and save that sticker even if you repaint.

I agree. I've been looking for 6 months now and have not seen one. I've snapped a bunch of photos of it and fear I'm going to have to get a custom decal made. It's a clear plastic sticky back, not a water decal.

I say extend the rear frame, mount a mid engine small block in it and have wild and crazy fun!

You could add front and rear bumpers and lights and license it for the street....
