Just picked her up today. It's a 1942 White M3 Half Track. And yes it has all the latest features like a sun roof, padded seating, climate control (if you can pick the weather), seating for 13, swing out rear door, drop down windshield and door armor for those troubled neighbourhoods, vacuum operated wipers (saves electricity), efficient in-line 6 cylinder, spike proof rear treads, unidirectional front radials, 10,000lb winch (saves tow truck bills), independent rear suspension with multiple boogies, and weighing in at a whopping 10 tons with an estimated highway mileage of 2MPG (or maybe that's 2GPM) it's still green, literally.

Well actually I took a good look at the lawn after cooling off in the house a while. I had to move the 66 through the yard where we unloaded the Half Track and it left more of a mark than it did :shrug. It's very quiet but makes a funny noise from the tracks. As far as the neighbours................they don't say much, I can't imagine why. I still have all the stangs but figure I'll get out of the doghouse quicker when I get rid of one (or two).

Wow! All that needs is a .50 cal Machine Gun mounted on top and then you stand up there and yell "GET OFF MY LAWN". :sm_PHF

I will say there was a moment when the 85 year old Veteran drove the Half Track down the road to the trailer. I didn't have a camera to capture it, but the image of him as a young man in uniform driving this through a liberated French town came into my head. It's was "Priceless". The "Track" will bear his name when restored.

That is awesome!

I can't recall if you have a son or not but want to throw it out there that I'd be willing to be your adopted adult son. I mean, you're going to need someone to pilot that thing while you're manning the 50 cal.!

we should ban these types of vehicles! I mean really, who needs a tank truck with a built in hammer and shovel!! :roul

That thing is BAD A$$!

Don't mean to reignite a old post but here's a couple of pics one of my friends took that I just received. Again priceless.

are the tracks on the rear rubber or steel? knew a guy back in fl that had one & had to get rubber tracks, the county got all over him cuz the steel tracks left impressions in the road...

Mine has rubber. I know that steel tracks on an American Half Track are extremely rare, and I've only seen them in pictures. I'm not sure they were ever used on production vehicles. He needs to hang onto those suckers.
