My Restored Parking Meter

Back in the 80's, my dad took some old parking meters from the town he was a cop in as they were upgrading to new units. He stuck them in the garage with the hopes of one day restoring them and turning them into lamps. Well, fast forward about 25 years and I have taken them as dad has no way to refurbish them and certainly doesn't have the ability to at his age and with all of his health issues. I finally got around to restoring one to its original working condition and thought I'd share it with everyone.

The one on the left is typical of the condition I picked them up in. The one on the right is completed and working!

I am pretty pleased with the results and once I mount in on a pole, it will make for a neat conversation piece!

Here's another pic of the finished one.

About 10 years ago the city of Galesburg (pop.30,000) sold all of their meter heads they had in storage for $5.00 each, I was not smart enough to see the potential of e-baying them. Could have made a nice profit!

Rick, I only have 3 so ,aking the coin will be a slow proposition. Hell I'll try though! :yah

Mike, dad's name is not Luke, it's Ron.
