Well i just got home and found my wife has begun ripping out another kitchen wall!!!

You need a job that keeps you closer to home...... either that or teach your wife how to finish these projects!

yes and yes. I am going to "coach" her to do most of the work. Then maybe she will quit... naw probably not
 
yep, it's definitely a load bearing wall. I'll make a temporary header/support while I take out the existing one and put in one to span the new opening.
She is a fan of the "open" concept (me too) but this house was built in the late 60's so she wants me to take out all the walls!!!
 
She wants to widen the entry into the kitchen. This doorway actually had a door on it. Its just going to be a wider opening now but I've got to move a bunch of wires too.

Looks like a needed improvement Craig, that small opening made it difficult for me to get to your beer last time I was there. I will return to test the new remodel. :beer

Better watch out Craig. Pretty soon she going to run out of projects and start hanging out at construction sites to get her fix.

my car is red, yes. walls are.... not

anyway, electrical is all moved, new header in place. The opening is now wider and moved over a bit.

I thought you were making a bigger opening. Nice work though.

I had to repair the chicken coupe this weekend. W big limb fell on it last month and poke a couple holes in the roof. Julie is out today buying several new chicks. We lose some every year to hawks and coyotes.

it is a little bigger, went from a 36" door (with an actual door) to a 44" opening.
our neighbor has chickens. they come over to our house sometimes, so does their horses.
