Name this car! 16Nov15 edition

I think it's 1957 to 1959 Ranchero tailgate emblem. They went to a different emblem starting 1960. Only reason I know because my friend recently bought a 1958 Ranchero. He was supposedly educating me on all things Ranchero.

David:

I have a buddy with an unrestored '62 Ranchero and that appears to be the emblem on his tailgate.

Only because of my quest for car knowledge did I look this up. David is correct, it is a 57-59 Ranchero. The 62, while similar, has a larger chrome band around the exterior.

Mike: The thing that throws me on the Caddy is that the horizontal bar grill does not look like any factory Caddy grill that I can remember. It seems that all the Caddy grills from the mod 1950's were egg crate style. I seem to remember that the solid chrome bullet tips were found on pre-1957 Caddys with rubber tips being found on the 57-58's. Was the car you saw a custom?

Of course a Caddy but I don't know the model...that's why I ask you guys....the experts.

Way to disappoint Mike! Here we are thinking you have all the answers to this great trivia game....I guess we will learn together. Keep posting the pics, always fun to learn new things about the classics.

According to my 1961 copy of Motor's Auto Repair Manual, which contains pictures of each year's model grills, this is a 1954 Cadillac: it has four horizontal grill segments below the center horizontal large grill and only 1954 has a chrome extension below the bullet that goes both to the left and right. Beyond that, there is not enough information in the photo to determine which model Cadillac it is.

All reasons why I posted my guess as a '54! ;) Admittedly the model I went with was totally SWAG (some wild ass guess)!

It was at the SantaCruz car show so that means yeah a lot of custom type work. I got tired of taking pics of the cars so I just took pics of what makes them interesting. And after I realized...nope I didn't take pics of many of the cars I'll be posting about. But the rest won't be very hard....
