Napa thread sealant for cylinder head bolts

Curious if anyone has ever used this stuff on the head bolts exposed to water jackets? It's "Thread sealant with Teflon" and Part Number 765-1188. Comes in a white 4 oz bottle and is white in color, somewhat runny and applied with a brush. Thanks...

what engine are you working on? All the Ford engines I know of have bottomed out holes that do not open up to the water jackets. Chebbys on the other hand have open holes to the water jackets and require some locktite thread sealer.

If it is runny and will not cause a false reading from your torque wrench, it should be fine.

I would for sure chase the threads and make sure they are very clean.

It's a 302 roller block from a '90 Mustang. I think all but 3 or 4 of the bolts terminate into water jackets. It's a little on the runny side - would it really make a whole lot of difference on the torque normally?

Anything other than clean threads can affect the torque.

I think there is a product made just for this and it doesn't affect the torque enough to worry about.

If it is runny, what does it do when it hits the coolant? What will it do to the cooling system?

The product is made for this type application, I was wondering if anyone had used it before. It sets up so you wouldn't want to start the engine right away but since its on a stand that's not a problem.
