The '56 pickup that's in the sig pic is the culmination of an effort by my youngest son and I. It has a 350/350 combo in it. It needs a new carb and I am considering one of the new summit racing carbs. Is this one too much carb for a healthy 350 with an air gap edelbrock manifold and screw in studs/guide plates good breathing heads? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-M08750VS/

Need to know if the 750 cfm is too much or would the 600 cfm fit the profile better? He likes to get on it when driving. Thanks, Gary.

what kind of compression & cam are you running? i had one of the 330hp 350 gm crate motors in my 40 coupe & it did fine with a 600. guy i sold it to put a 750 double pumper on it & ended up ruining the motor. i did have a 750 vacuum secondary holley on an 85 mustang gt years ago & it did just fine with slightly smaller jets on the primary side & a spring change in the vacuum diaphragm.

Normally, unless he spends lots of time at high RPM (4.10 rear, racing, etc) the 750 would be overkill IMO. The Summit carb does have annular boosters, which are less sensitive to oversizing, so with that carb, it wouldn't kill the driveability as much as say the Holley double pumper refrenced above.

the cam has a big lope to it. I remember having to change to guide plates with the screw in studs because it kept bending pushrods and pulling studs. It required double springs also. I don't remember the compression. Thanks, gary.
