Need a new TV

The only thing I can suggest is to get the TV (assuming it's the same unit and price is close) at Costco as they will double the factory warranty. I have a 37" LCD Vizio, SV370XVT 1080p, 120hz, and am happy with it.

What about the 3D....worth it with todays broadcasting? Grandson thinks it would be cool.....

CostCo.....80 miles away.....

I wear glasses so watching a 3D movie is not a comfortable experience. Costco has a 3D on display, and I am just not that impressed with it. I do not think that it is necessarily a fad, and the technology is being improved, but I think they can still do better. A kid wanting the latest and greatest... duh

I would recommend buying anywhere but Best Buy. Google it, there are tons of real unhappy people buying from them. More than I can find for Wal-Mart even.

I like Wal-Mart's price better on TVs. Same brands and size, but much less money. Costco is a great place to buy as well.

3D IMHO is not worth the money!

My opinion on this ??

Don't spent too much money on electronics these days.
Technic is changing hard these days and when you buy a not so cheap TV , you are stuck with it for quite some time unless you have that kind of money that you can afford it to throw it away after a years or two.

IMHO

Unfortunately, the problem with that thinking is that you'll end up never buying anything new, because you're always waiting for the next greater thing. At some point, you just have to pull the trigger and buy.

Trigger will be pulled today.....

Must remember to check Wally World.

Again, Costco may be great......80 miles from me is not in the books today.

Will also have to get to Sam's to see what they have.

Seems Samsung and Sony are the ones I keep leaning towards. We bought our daughter the Sony in a 42" three years ago with no problems at all. Our 19" Samsung that is 2 years old has been good.

Hate these decisions.

All my TVs are Plasma which is pretty much taking a back seat these days but I really like my Samsung. I'm not a big fan of the LCDs (too bright). 3D is a couple years away from maybe being something. LED is the new tech to consider.

Plasma doesn't work well at altitude. I am at 5000 feet, so they are out for me.

I have done a bunch of research and found the Sony Bravia is awesome for the money. I found them last night at Costco online reasonable.

I forgot to tell you to go to Amazon.com and look at their returns. My daughter works there and said that if you are careful and read the description and find one that merely has scratches on it, you can get it at 1/2 price!

One of her friends got a 50 something inch TV for around $400 because of a scratch on the upper left corner and just covered the scratch with magic marker. They will tell you why the TV was returned and you just have to find a cosmetic reason. Cheyanne said that if they get a product in for return that is not working correctly those go back to the mfg, but the damaged in shipping, they can not return and must discount heavily to sell.

Just an option. Good luck Pete.

Checked Amazon......nothing worth the price difference right now. Some are even higher than local new ones. That Sony is looking good.....

we have a local chain of stores here called "essex" that carries amazon's returns & overstock from other places. thats where i got the deal on the toshiba 40" lcd for the garage. the t.v. retails for $599 & i got it for $350 plus the guy threw in a $100 wall mount bracket. it must have been overstock from somewhere as it had never been opened.

Oddly enough, I have found no place like that in the center of the Redneck Riviera......guess they pay full price for all the big items...

My middle daughter got a free CRT style TV from the hotel she worked at. She said they were selling some of the lcd Tv sets cheap since they were upgrading.

Led - good. I'd pass on 3d. Bestbuy sells lower rated stuff...

Until the stuff being shown on TV gets better, it's not worth getting a TV.
