So, yesterday, I finally get around to installing the hi-torque mini-starter that's been in my garage for well over a year. I eliminated the stock solenoid completely and ran the stock red/blue wire to the new solenoid on the mini-starter.
The engine would not crank with the key. If I put the remote starter directly on the wire to the new starter solenoid and hook the other side to the battery, the thing fires up like a scalded cat.
This sounds like I'm just not getting enough current to the new solenoid, although I'm getting enough voltage. I figure I'll just add a relay, and just use the red/blue wire as the trigger, and supply 12v directly from the battery, through the relay.
This sound like a good plan? Anyone else that's done this have to use a relay?
