66 Coupe with dash lights inop. Headlights and park lights work.

I suspect the rheostat is bad. Anything else I should look at?

Do the dash lights flicker at all when the knob is rotated?

Tail lights work?

Just happen or is it being restored or what......

According to him everything works except the dash lights. I asked if it does anything when he jiggles the knob and he said no.

I'll probably look at Friday or Saturday.

If the memory is correct......that wire comes from the light switch, to the fuse panel, to the dash lights where it is grounded. Nothing else is on the circuit....I think.....all blue/red wires. I believe it is the fuse in the center on the box.....

Your memory is pretty good. It does go through the rheostat on the headlight switch. And of course, the headlight knob has to be pulled out; you can't imagine how many times people forget that!

....yep.....that rheostat will get people too....dome light stays on....no dash lights.....dim dash lights......

not sure if there are many differences between 66-69, but my dash lights didn't work when i got the car & it ended up being in the headlight switch itself.
