New Aluminum Radiator

janschutz

Corn Hauler
I got a new (cheap) radiator off ebay I went cheap since I seem to have a bad habit of ruining radiators one way or another.

I polished it out on Saturday

I need to make some brackets for it this week and install it.

Looks good.
I am currently looking for a rad and fans for my car. I have looked at Be cool and Griffin and they are both pretty high $.

How much did you pay for that one?

Are you happy with the quality?

What brand did you go with?

Made in China

I do not remember, I actually bought it in June, I just have not done anything with it. I have long deleted the links but I think the vendor was "radiatordealz" .

The one I put in the 65 is Chinese and I really like it. great radiator for $125, which is what I paid too. I think I even got free shipping.

Mine looks identical (but possibly wider), bought a few years ago from ebay for approx $150,and have had no problems at all. The only comment I have is the top tank is just a litte too shiney for me, I'd like to dull it up a bit.

A little paint will work :yah

I will bet it is a Champion brand. I think I will be a dealer for Mark 7 radiators.com. They are a lot higher priced, but will custom make what ever you want. Rich.

Friday, 12/10.2010, I made the brackets to mount the radiator.

I removed the leaky old radiator. You can see where it was leaking.

On to my next project, Install an 'R' code valance.

Drove it around for a while, no leaks heating issues!

Darn, that looks fantastic and you couldn't beat the price and function!!!! I paid a small fortune for my Griffin and it takes up the entire front of my valance, but i like it!

Nice job on the mounting of that radiator.

I paid $250 for a custom radiator from HOWE and I decided to make a removable core support to hold it. There was nothing left of the original by the time I cut it to make room for all the fins.

I have run that exact radiator Janschutz has. I have had great success with it and get many compliments. This winter I purchased a cross flow like mustang67408 so I can plumb a 10AN line into the tank to run my heater. I am running an electric water pump and lost my heater hose provision last year. So, you should be happy with the radiator.

I have a question for mustang67408. How did you mount yours and do you have pictures? Thanks in advance.

I'll get some pics this weekend and post them for you

I am also running EVANS COOLANT. In the winter I usually do not even need to turn on the fans and in summer I have been able to drive in 100+ temps. ( and no , not in traffic on the strip) just normal back and forth to work type stuff.
It beats water wetter hands down. You also only use up to a 5lb cap. This takes all the pressure off the cooling system (HG's/water pump/hoses).
Anyone else run this?

The radiator is sitting on a piece of 4" channel that is welded to the frame.
We welded some aluminum bungs onto the radiator on the botom and it sits in rubber mounts.
The core support bolts in, and we added some bungs to the radiator sides so the core support also bolts thru the fan shroud to the radiator.
