New Clutch & Pressure Plate Suggestions

I've removed my transmission to replace shift seals which have leadked fluid on the underside of the car. Since I have the transmisson out, I think I will replace the clutch and pressure plate. I was looking at a Centerforce II kit and thought I would ask for some suggestions.

I don't want anything too radical. The engine is stock except for an dual exhaust, an aluminum intake, and Holley 570 Street Avenger. I'm using the stock Z bar (don't want this to bend) and a toploader transmission. I plan on making a few more performance upgrades in the future.

I'd go with a Centerforce I or a Ford King Cobra (but you'd have to have the flywheel drilled to match the bolt pattern on the KC).

Then again, I wimped out and bought all the stuff to put an auto in it...what do I know? :rofl j/k

I have a Centerforce I on Midlife, which is more than adequate for a general cruising car. It is incredibly smooth and easy on the foot. If you are really going for any performance applications, a Centerforce II is worth considering.

I have a CF dual friction and not one problem have had I, Mmmm...yes.

I have a Centerforce DF in my car too on the stock Z-bar and it works great. I also removed the under dash assist spring. (I.e cut with Dremel)

I am using a Fidanza 3.2 clutch that is made of Kevlar. Very durable, smooth and has been great for me. Before that I used a Ford HD clutch and it held up fine with the blower. I only changed it out becasue I switched transmissions. It was a great clutch for the money.

I put a King Cobra in my Foxbody when I swapped the T5 into it. Mild mods to the motor, no problems at all with the performance of the clutch. I got the clutch/PP/throwout bearing and alignment tool all for about $190 delivered from some outfit in Fla... can't think of the name right now.... sucks getting old

Is the Fidanza 3.2 a 4-puck clutch? That is the picture they show on their website. I anticipated that one to be a little aggressive based on the typical puck clutches.

I have a Haye's long style pressure plate that was rebuilt by a local shop in Sacramento. They did a good job, and rebuilt it to handle more horsepower and torque. The disc is a McLeod. I just called down to there and talked with Red. Good setup. no problems...hooks up great.

It is a puck clutch. For me the clutch is smooth as butter. I think the Kevlar helps out on the durability and driveability of the clutch.

I've decided to go ahead and get the Centerforce II. I'll let everyone know how it turns on in a few weeks when everything is back together. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Well it's time for me to jump in on this subject as well. I have not given any thought on what clutch and plate I'm installing between the Clevo and T5.
