New Double Roller Perches

I just got my first new deliver of the 2010 year... New ORP double roller perches!

Check 'um out

I'll get them installed tomorrow, but I won't have a track outing until the spring.

Pretty much for track cars, there is a noticeable difference in the how the car "sets" going into and through the corners. I doubt that anyone would notice the diff at less than WFO!

I installed mine before the end of last track season.
 
Installed. I'll take them for a spin tomorrow, but I won't get any track time with them until the spring.

Yep, wire loom.

To hide engine bay wiring, I've run almost all of the wiring under the fenders, except the coil, temp sender, oil pressure sender & choke wires (which were hidden in a piece 8an Russell ProClassic hose).
 
The new perches look nice Mike, but I have a question.

On every Mustang I've worked on.... a lot.... the bottom of the coil spring has always terminated on the inside edge of the perch. You'd have to flip your perches around to get the spring to terminate how I normally have seen them.

My question is: Does it matter? I'm not sure.
 
Hhmmm... I don't know if it matters. I switched the perches around, because tabs came in contact with the UCA sooner when positioned facing to the inside. I'll check with John to see if it makes a difference.
 
Global West's instructions tell you to turn the perch backwards for better clearance...

With stock perches it DOES make a difference, as the perches will bind. With the free-swiveling perches, it does not matter which way you face them - either direction is fine. Just check clearance thruout the travel range.
 
I just spoke with Shari at ORP, and per John, she said that it's fine to install the perches oriented in either direction... tabs in or tabs out.

I'll take it for a drive later this afternoon, but I can't imagine I'll feel a difference on the street. I'll let y'all know.
 
I just got back from a test drive, and as suspected I can't really feel a major difference in the double rollers. Definitely not like going from original to roller perches. However, turning hard at moderate speed I do think the double rollers feel a bit smoother when there is uneven pavement under foot.

The real test will be at the track. Until then, I'm just another happy ORP customer.

I happen to be talking to John of ORP today who mentioned garner67's recent inquiry. As garner67 said, it really doesn't matter the orientation of the perch whether the tab is inside or outside. And yes if you have global west UCA's you have no choice but to put the perches with the tabs on the outside.

Thanks for the update! I figured there wasn't going to be much difference, my curiosity was whether you'd feel minimal difference or absolutely indistinguishable difference. Sounds like it's more the latter. I still bet you'll have some guys with street-only cars that end up paying the extra money. John was recently telling me when he built the first Roller UCAs and LCAs he was convinced they were race only parts, and nobody would ever put them on street cars. Yet he gets orders for them for street-only cars often, now.
