New Explorer Limited...

My older sister and her soon to be husband (69 and 76 and they eloped and the wedding is tomorrow) wanted to look at the new Fords to "see" what was out there. Then they decided to trade her '08 Edge in on a new Explorer after looking them over. She got the Sterling Gray Limited, 3.5 V6, 4WD (live in Mich), Nav, heated/AC stone leather seats, power third row seats, sun roof/rear glass roof, keyless push button start, tow package, and who knows what else. About the only option I did not find is the blind spot warning system.....$47,000 sticker.

Being they are not real familiar with the local area, I am forced to chauffeur them around for the two weeks or so they are here. Rough having to drive this rig.....and learning all the voice commands..... It has not responded to the "screw you" response yet but I bet it will....

It is sweet....but I am not ready to trade the Mustang.

My neighbor bought one, very nice but OMS expensive.... I dont think my two cars(excluding mustang) and two bikes add up to that sticker price...

I've been super happy with my '07 Explorer.

I've owned it about 3 1/2 years now. Probably doesn't have all the bells and whistles some of the newer ones have but mine has 4wd...with a V6 it has more punch to it then you might expect if you need to floor it to get out in traffic, etc. Plenty of room in the back to haul kids and baseball gear around and we use the third row from time to time. The problem with the 3rd row is that it pretty much eliminates your cargo capacity.

The nice thing about mine is I bought it at CarMax with 3k miles on it and paid $22k drive out. Still smelled like a new car when I drove it off the lot.

The down side to it is running around town here I get about 14 mpg. If I am running down the freeway it gets about 18 or 19 mpg.

I would keep the Mustang if I were you. I wouldn't mind trading my Explorer for a new Mustang. However, I don't see strapping a kayak to the top of a Mustang and sometimes I need the third row, etc, etc.

Being it is not mine.....my Mustang stays for sure. I use the '93 Bronco for my rough stuff,,,,,

This is getting about 17-19 mpg around town.
