New Ford EcoBoost Crate Engine

I am currently building a 1968 Volvo P1800 and will be converting it to something special. Perhaps not special to a purist. :thu Anyways, my intent has been to put in a LS Chevy engine and an automatice 4L65E transmission. I was doing a little research this week an it looks like Ford is going to make the 3.5l EcoBoost engine available in a crate engine. This got me thinking. This engine and a hand held tuner gets me to my 400+ horsepower goal, does it without using a Chevy engine and would be very unusual. The LS thing is so over done but over done for good reason. Reasonable prices, readily available parts and great aftermarket support.

I have been researching the size and weight of the EcoBoost engine but can't seem to find anything. Does anyone know what dimensions the engine is (H,W,L) or weight or have a car/truck with one they could measure for me? Thanks!

I can't be of much help when it comes to what you are asking, but I have been following an interesting thread on Garage Journal about a guy that is putting one in a 66 Ford Pickup. He grabbed a wrecked 2011 F150 with an Ecoboost for under $4K. He also mentioned there were quite a few wrecked, low mileage trucks out there....just another option.

I stumbled across that thread this afternoon. It sounds like the guy is having some serious health issues. I didn't catch the fact he only paid $4k for the truck. That is a great buy!

I will he having some surgery mid february that will stop me working on my cars for a couple months. That will give me some time to do a bit of researching the subject. I may have to go the the local dealer to take some measurements of a new truck. :)
