After following KBMWRS's recent posts, I decided to remove and take in Shag's new rotors to have them turned. The guy who did it was amazed that they were .005" out yet being new. Goes to show ya......

I'm not suprised. We put one new and one used rotor on my dad's car to cure the worst braking vibration I've ever seen, and it still vibrated pretty badly. Turns out the new rotor was out by .008" TIR. Wercome to China, hrow mray re hrelp you?

I was in Sears today, and they were displaying new box wrenches with a black finish similar to impact sockets. Very nice sturdy looking pieces. Looking at the wrench, it was a 9/16 and said craftsman real big, It looked great, i flipped it over and on the back it only says china. I put it down and ran away. :wtf

Yeah, finding rotors with minimal runout is hard. That's why I mentioned that many shops will check new rotors and turn them if needed before installing them. I actually recommend that to customers with our economy line of rotors at work, since they're .003+/- from the factory. I try to only sell the Ultra Premium rotors to walk-in customers, since they're .001+/-, to avoid getting comebacks. They're still made in China, but they're made in a better plant with brand new equipment, better steel, and better engineering designs.

I've had shops say rotors have too much run out , yet they fail to use a dial indicator to check the condition of their own lathe . Many shop do not maintain their lathes properly . Yes , China rotors can be questionable . The truth is most people do not want to pay for a quality manufactured product . They want a low price .
