new shop progress

SELLERSRODSHOP

Well-Known Member
i finally decided to cut off the work for a couple weeks & get the new shop finished to a "workable" state. i'm hoping to have things in order & ready to go towards the end of the week. the new 40' flatscreen is hung & hooked up (a must).

i stickbuilt a room around the compressor (i moved it outside this time) & used the extra metal left over from the building to cover it, then soundproofed it with blanket r-30 & accoustical soundproofing board. it's REALLY quiet now, so shouldn't have any complaints. here's a pic at the half way point;

added a desiccant drier to the new blast cabinet:

started the exhaust fan/filter panel for the new paintbooth. it has a small box that houses a charcoal filter for fumes & the big box is covered in expanded metal to hold the 22 gram 98% booth filters in place. if all works as planned, i should have some really clean air that exits the system. i'll start the intake panel tomorrow, then should be ready for a test run.

here's the new curtain system i installed to use for the booth. this will still give me full use of the shop when i'm not painting anything.

Looks like you've made a lot of steady progress since my last visit Steve, wish I could move my compressor outside.

Sandy wanted me to thank you for the knee cooler, she's been steadily using it and it feels much better than the ice pack I had. Pretty soon she'll be able to move it enough to put her foot up my butt again :char

Hope to get out again soon, been too busy with the family on weekends lately.

Looks awesome Steve!

And curious; are those curtains weighted at the bottom or will the exhaust attempt to pull them inward while painting?

Looking good.

How are you venting the compressor shed? They generate a lot of heat ya know....

they have chain sewed inside the bottom to keep it weighed down. i had the curtain made in two pieces, a 24' length & another 14' for the width. i also bought extra track to extend the usual "L" shape into a backwards "P" so i can pull the short one on around the loop in the "P" & shorten the area into a 14X14 for doing small parts/bikes etc. so kinda have two booths in one depending on what i'm doing.

it's vented in the front under the eaves of the roof. i didn't insulate the roof, just put a piece of the sound deadening board on a section to baffle the sound coming out so it's not a straight shot for the noise. i'll add a screen panel to the outside to keep the critters out.

I can assume that the name of your business is "SELLERSRODSHOP". But the shop itself? I think that you should call it the Phoenix, the Six million dollar shop is way too long (we can rebuild him, make him better than before, better, stronger, faster...) I like the Phoenix, ya know out of the ashes it was reborn. :bowdown Dude it looks totally awesome. :roll

craigslist was my new best friend this weekend. bought two truckloads of stuff from a guy about 15 miles from the house. bought two lyon steel workbenches, a bolt bin, small cabinet with drawers & another large storage cabinet. got a good deal, the one workbench lists for $469 new & got everything for $260. guy even gave me a couple free things, a nice 4 tier table that i'll use as a paint mixing table & a LARGE tap handle...

worbench & bolt bin

with all the free time i have, i ended up buying a set of wheels & tires for the tr4 project. they are 17x8 voxx misano's with 245/45 yokohama yk520's that were mounted up on a 2001 mustang. talked the guy down to $300 for the set.

going to try & go look at a sewing machine for the shop today....

Someone call the Sheriff; there's a bit of thieving going on!

I'm very jealous of the workbenches and part bins.

if we can figure out a way to get em from here to there, i can get all thos benches you want for $75 unpainted or $90 repainted.

Don't tempt me. My garage is rapidly filling up, and I'm contemplating a storage unit!

I just can't throw out those empty beer bottles...

I like the drawered cabinet (the one you said needs painting) I have a upright one that is very handy, I never got fancy, just a black majic marker listing what is in each drawer---saves opening 5 or 6 drawers to finally get the right one---shop looks great!
