New Toy??? Or not....

So my wife calls me from work last night. Seems there is a new nurse that flies and has a plane at a airport not too far away. And...he's looking for a partner.
So after telling me this she then says.."Like you need another toy".

I'll get more details tonight. She's not sure of the make/model/year but will find out.
This would be an expensive new toy to waste money I don't have on. Damn. Its tempting.

I was just kidding.

Mike's very touchy when the gay word is used.....not sure why.

(that's a joke too)

It's weird that this subject would come up today....

Yesterday evening while driving down the road with my teenage daughter she asked me about an empty house right down the road from us..... and if it were for sale would I buy it/live there? The house is a big one... probably on at least 100 acres and is not for sale. I know who the owner is and it's just one of his many houses. On the property is a funtioning grass/dirt runway. Connected to the main house through a breezeway is a small airplane hanger that is designed well into the appearance of the house. There are a few other good sized buildings on the property and a large pond stuffed with hungry large mouth bass.

I told her that I'd be standing in line to buy that house/property and would buy a small plane if the two in the hangar didn't come with the sale of the house.

I first took stick control of a little Cessna back when I was 16 and would love the opportunity to fly my own plane.

I say go for it!

It's a great hobby to say the least.

Anywho, I guess my first question would be, do you have a license to fly a plane?

Don't get me wrong, flying is extremely fun and although renting a plane and paying for fuel is a little expensive its the most exciting way to get to Tahoe for Christmas.

I say, if you can afford it, DO IT! :vic

Although your idea sounds great, a better way to join the mile high club is to buy a plane with a FEMALE nurse; better yet an attractive female anything.

BTW, I suggest you never fly in a small airplane the morning after a night of partying. It is no fun.

I wouldn't want to own a plane. You also have to pay to store it, insure it, and maintain it...and nothing in aviation is cheap. I would just rent one when you need one. Kinda like a boat.

Commercial/Insturment
BS in Aeronautics
I know the cost....that's the problem. Its basically that and no other hobbies. Not the correct choice I'm affraid.

Friend of mine just bought a little 150, he wants me to go back and finish getting my license so I could fly it once a month or so for him because he and his wife are over the road truckers and don't get home often and he doesn't want it to just sit, have you ever seen a airport cop check for a license? lol, who needs the paper , I just want to fly it ---lol---just kidding, it is an expensive toy, if there was a way to write off the expence as business that would help.

Yeah I have. Twice I was approached by a guy on the ramp flashing his credentials (FAA) and asked for ALL the documents. Very nervous times.
