Nice car on eBay

They were nice cars, but had wicked torque steer! At least the one I drove.

I am not sure what year but they had a issue with the camshaft that required some welding on the timing end?
I was working at a ford dealer when a rep showed up with one--he said that the original plan was for the japs to design a set of better breathing heads for the 3.0--supposedly they went a step further and built a complete motor--then sold it to ford by running it on a test stand at ten thousand r.p.m.'s for an hour! He let me drive it and I caught rubber in 3 gears pulling away from the dealership.

Found this---
Date of Failure: 10/12/2001
Component: ENGINE:VALVES:VALVE TRAIN
Summary: CAMSHAFT SECONDARY SPROCKET FAILED, SPINNING ON THE CAMSHAFT TUBE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STOP INSTANTLY WHEN THE VALVE AND PISTONS TRIED TO OCCUPY THE SAME SPACE IN THE COMBUSTIAN CHAMBER. NEW REPLACEMENT ENGINES ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS VEHICLE, ONLY SALVAGE UNITS. REBUILDS, IF POSSIBLE ON THIS MODEL EXCEED $4800 AT THE VERY LEAST! I HAVE BEEN INFORMED WHILE PERFORMING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM THAT IT IS "A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MOTOR" ACCORDING TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP.*AK

I had an 89 SHO 5-speed, it had wicked torque steer too! I loved that car!!!

Yeah, that was the '96 - '99 with the V8. Ford never did do anything about the issue. Too few of them to recall, I guess.
