No more Mercury as of the end of this year.

I have CNBC on in my office all day and they just did a story that Ford is going to disconue the Mercury brand by the end of the year. Just thought you guys may want to know. Time to go buy a Cougar?

Not a huge surprise. Mercury currently has only 4 models, two of which are going away after this model year anyway. Mercury is less than 2% of Ford corporate sales...

BTW, they haven't had a Cougar in the lineup since 2002.

Which two models were going at the end of the year, and which were to continue?

Mountaineer was going away when the new Exploder debuts, along with Grand Marquis (didn't even realize they still made those!).

Leaves only the Milan (Fusion / Lincoln MKZ clone) and the Mariner. I've always like the Mariner (swmbo has an 05), as it was nicer than the Escape and didn't have a Lincoln version.

I'm not surprised, but still disappointed. Back in the 80's I owned a couple of Cougars, so I'm loyal to the Merc brand. I always thought the Mercury Head logo was cool.
