no overflow in tank

i was wondering why i wouldnt have any fluid going into the overflow tank. no leaks anywhere. just replaced all the hoses, thermo, housing, water pump, radiator cap, & obviously the fluid. fluid looks clean. starts to rapidly circulate within a couple of minutes. doesnt overheat. but shouldnt the normal process be that the radiator builds up pressure & pushes extra out into the reservoir tank?

+1 and the system has to be full to the very max when using the correct cap. Originally these cars were designed to have the fluid left a bit low to allow a space left inside the rad. top that would allow for expansion.....thus not needing an overflow tank.

radiator is completely full...just a cheapy from autozone. cap doesnt seem to be leaking at all. oh i should mention that the car came with a/c but ive removed both a/c (compressor was shot), and the heat. would that make a difference?

No difference. I would do a pressure check on the system. Normally, these systems run at a level just above the core, thus allowing the expansion room. I believe there is a difference between a cap for a reservoir system and a non reservoir system. Might check that out.

The rapid circulation could be a concern too. The car should be up close to operating temp. prior to the water circulating fast at all. Might check the temp of the water when it starts circulating.
