Not good news at the vets office

Max our 7 year old boxer really slowed down on eating about 2 1/2 weeks ago, we took him to the vet last saturday and they said to try antibiotics and another medicine, he was down 10 pounds from sept, he just about completely stopped eating since sat and I had to stick the pills down his throat, he also vomited a couple times, took him back today and left him, he lost 6 more pounds and xrays show a mass either on or in his stomach, surgery in the morning to see what it is, I told them if it was a tumor too big to remove don't wake him up, I did not want to watch him starve to death slowly, tough call but I am not giving up hope. Maybe he ate a tennis ball or maybe he ate our cat which has been missing lately!

I'm very sorry to hear about "Max." Maybe it's a foreign body (Gorilla Glue in the stomach can really cause problems) or maybe--if it's a tumor--it will be something they can remove. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him.

+1 Im a big fan of boxers, and hope all will be well with him. I had a dog once that swallowed the squeaker out of a rubber ball, they had to go in and get it, but with in a few weeks he was back to normal. Lets hope he just ate something. Good Luck.

Really sorry to hear the news Rod, please keep us informed. I'm hoping for a good outcome for ya.

Sorry to hear this Rod. I hope everything works out for Max. I'm dealing with a sick dog here as well. Good luck.

I too love boxers. Like others on the forum, I've had my share of sick dogs over the years. (Tumors, foreign objects in the stomach...etc). I can relate 100% with what you're going through. Hang in there and I hope everything works out.

our yorkie passed away earlier this year.
had her for about 9 years.
she was sick for awhile so I know what you're going through.
it's hard because they become like a child to you.
best of luck

My daughter who works at a vet hospital, favors boxers big time. Hope the surgery works out OK, but I do support your decision if
the tumor is too big to not let Max suffer anymore.

As major animal lovers, both Toni
and I hope everything will turn out fine.

And yes, you're right, no animal should ever, ever suffer

Sorry to hear about your dog Rod. I hope everything works out for the best. I know what it is like to have animals and it just makes you sick to have problems with them.

Any news? As the "father" of a couple boxers myself I understand how you must be feeling. I too am praying this turned out well.
