Observations from a civilian at SEMA 2009

Engine datalogging

Unlike late model cars - cars w/ carbs and no OBD II system don't lend themselves to tuning from a laptop or plug in module that looks like a calculator. However... I did one vendor w/ a system that claims to be able to datalog EFI AND carbureted engines...

Zt-2 Model 2010 Wideband Datalogging System

Needless to say, datalogging for a 60's era V8 is a short list...

This post has 348 views to this point. We have a lot of lurkers who read but don't always post. Which is perfectly OK.

You're efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Heck, I'm afraid to open to many of them........might spend to much to quick. :ecit but :scar

I'm one of those lurkers. Thanks for the links. I have already started on my poor man gauges thanks to your links. I hope I can make them work.

Brakes

My philosophy - lurkers welcome!!! Until I drag my butt up to get my beloved 68 Fastback out of storage and back in the sunshine, I'm living vicariously thru those I see on the road... And now back to our observations & short summaries - enjoy!

Upgrading brakes on 60's era classics is BIG business -- especially if want to upgrade to modern stoppers (and find some useful tools)...

Gidday (yep I'm Aussie) just finished installing a SSBC drum to disc kit into my 67 coupe, works a treat I did have to change the pads, as the compound was more functional for high speed stuff, not the local domestic stuff we do here in Canberra.
Cheers.

Heating & Cooling

Whoa - I didn't even know they had vintage Mustangs in Australia. But considering ya'll are almost as muscle car crazy as here, it figures!
Several long timers in the business were present at SEMA and maybe one or two you haven’t seen offer products to keep ‘er cool under all conditions:

http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/zirgo/
wide range of products – may be geared more toward custom builders tho’
Cooling Fans – not vehicle specific but have ultra thin designs in different diameters if need to change. Also have adjustable temp switches to even control fan speed.
UltraCool coolant additive – also for racing use
Overflow Tanks – even have modular design version to customize own size.
Complete AC systems – but like everything else, not vehicle specific

Not very glamorous but they had the essentials such as radiators, shrouds

http://www.samcosport.com/usa/index.asp
Silicone Coolant hoses – great, have ‘em on my bike!
No kit for Mustang listed but have components for custom fitting (may be worth it)

http://www.perma-cool.com/
Engine cooling products such as fans/ clutches
Oil, Fuel & Transmission filter & cooling products. Not vehicle specific but engineered for various HP applications
Oil filter relocation kits listed (ck threads on filter first) – including dual filter conversion kit.

Now, those of whom we HAVE seen in the past while looking for cooling products, etc…

Well known Mustang parts supermarket. One of the go to places for resto/ concours -type parts (in this case, cooling & heating). Also had aluminum radiator cores and silicone radiator hoses (NEW product at SEMA but hasn’t made it to the website yet).

Transmission & Drivetrain

Once again...it's sometimes nice to have a vintage ride with a history of proven components under the hood and under the floor. There were a number of companies w/ items to potentially take what's left of your 'disposable' income...
