We were out today and I commented on what the car feels like when one hits the rev limiter. I also showed her the red line on the tach and talked about what happens in the newer cars when it shuts down the firing.

Well, she laughed and told me when we first got the new car, she had problems with the speed.....always passing everyone and hard to hold the speed limit. She wrote it off as it is a fast car and she just had to get used to the car. Then, as she was riding with me one day, she looked at the gauges and thought things looked odd. It was at that point that she realized she was trying to use the tach as a speedometer.........I about bust a gut laughing.

All our past vehicles had had a tach....not like it was a new item in the car. I figure it must be the drugs.... Just glad she figured it out before she got into 6th gear on the highway. It tachs about 2000 rpm at 60 mph.....would have been interesting to see her get it up to 55+...lol

I don't know how to drive a manual and probably see myself doing the same thing. :hide OF course since my mustang has the ratchet shifter, I'm getting better when it comes to paying attention to gauges and the tach!

Yep, I was.....this was a good day for her......maybe....other than reading the wrong gauge. The military base here is strict about speeding...they collect money from those not on active duty plus can revoke driving privileges. She was doing 50+ in a 30 zone....dang drugs anyway....lol
