OK, I know I'm a dumbass, but

I never cease to amaze myself with the stupid sh!t I pull.
So I found some local gov'ment auctions while wasting time online, saw a nice medium size (I thought) compressor at the county next to me. Put in a stupid low bid, and won. Turns out the picture only showed half of the damn thing. It has two (count 'em) single lung (3" bore!) pumps, each driven by a 3/4 Hp 3 phase motor. Of course, my residential power isn't 3 phase. Real good due diligence, dumass.
So now not only am I out $55 cash (American!), 3 or 4 hours of work and 5 gals of gas, I got several hundred lbs of cold iron to heat up every time I want to work in the garage. And if I want to make this thing work, I need to buy either 2 single phase motors, or a rotary phase converter, or two static phase converters.
Man I never learn.
Here's a couple pics to amuse yourselves with.

My house in Brawley had 3 phase. I am electrically challenged....I thought you could add three phase to a house. Mine was for the heater. It cost less to run the heat pump on three phase in the desert all summer than anything else. My bill was 1/2 of what the neighbor's was and I kept it cooler in my house too.

So anyway, it looks like a nice compressor, why not either change the compressor to fit your house of can you get 3 phase?

I'm not an electrician nor do I play one on tv, but I'd talk with a local electrical supplier to replace the 3 phase motors with the normal 1 phase 220 motors? With 2 compressors on there, it should be able to recover very rapidly.

Wow that is one serious machine! It seems to me there aught to be someone around here who knows about 'lectrical stuff. I know nothing so I won't suggest swapping motors or adding 3 phase to your house. Good luck though!

Well I can tell you that 3-phase to your house is out. Even if local code would allow, it would be cheaper to swap on some single phase motors. Of course you would still have a very loud, inefficient set-up. Honestly, about the only thing there of any value is the tank.
If it were me I'd source out a good multi-cylinder pump and mount it up. Don't feel too stupid as the tank is worth more than you paid.

I know nothing about A/C, it's a mystery to me, so I dunno how you could make it work. Seems like it's worth a try. That could be a pretty hoss compressor!

And failing that, use the tank to make a super BBQ Smoker!!! There's always a reason to smoke meat!!!

Steve, last time I smoked meat I got a headache and had te munchies for a week! :lol

Heck throw a 289 on that puppy! (In my best Tim Allen impression) More Power, Grunt!

Hehehehe

Just to rub my own face in it even more, the damn thing only makes 80 psi:

Will that even run a grinder or cut-off tool at full speed?

I know getting 3 phase run in is cost prohibitive, if codes even will allow it. I can't believe it could be any louder than the Craftsman oilless I have now. I can't hear myself think while it's running. And it runs all the time when using grinders.
I looked a little online, 110/220 V 3/4 horse motors can be had for as little as $120 plus shipping new. I wonder about running only one pump. As big as it is, it still oughta keep up with anything I want to do.

4 things you need to match:

HP (equal or slightly greater)
Rotation (CW or CCW)
RPM
Single phase 222/110 volts

Everything else can be adapted. Shaft diameter is good if you can match it, but bushings are available if you can't.

Then look at surplus motors, like the ones here:

Great. Links like that are what got me here in the first place. :)

They are only 3/4 HP motors. Swap'em out with 3/4HP 220-Volt Single phase motors and run with it. Especially if you only spent $55 bucks on it.

It is not the admin pw that is the issue, the system has deep freeze installed and I forgot the pw to DF.

That is my file server. It has opera on it though. I like deep freeze since that system doesn't even need to be shut down, just flip the power switch and when it boots it is exactly the same as it was the day I installed it. SO when I am playing around with virus stuff or malware stuff, I use that system.

I do like UBCD it is pretty cool. I don't have a copy, but played around with it when I was visiting our old store in October.
