Old 4100 Carb question. Were the manual choke carbs something "special"?

I've got an old "shoe box" 4100 carb, and its got a manual choke. Most of those carbs I've ran across had some type of automatic choke, so I'm wondering if this carb was on something performance orientated? [its a 1.08, not the 1.12]

Or wast the manual chokes found on thinks like trucks? The tag is missing so no numbers to tell anything.

Manual choke 4100's were relatively rare, especially for Mustangs, restricted to the K code version. I have no idea about other FLM models, though...

That is what I kinda suspected. I can't see Ford putting a carb with a manual choke on anything but performance vehicles, or trucks.
