Yak, yak, yak
I know some time ago (a year or so back), there was a thread on "famous" people we've met. The reason I've reopened the subject is because I can add one to my list as of this past week.

Some of you may have watched the Discovery Channel series "Treasure Quest". For those that never saw it, it was a series which spanned several seasons and documented Odyssey Marine Exploration's various endeavors of locating sunken ships (many including lost treasures). Their primary ship is the exploration vessel " Odyssey Explorer". Well this past week I went aboard the ship for work. After walking off the gangway back onto the pier I met the company's principal marine archaeologist (and one of the feature crew members of the show), Neil Cunningham Dobson. He was pier side just milling around next to the gangway while longshoremen were loading provisions on the ship. I got a chance to speak with him for a few seconds and he seemed a pretty nice and personable fellow. Since I was working I didn't make a fuss over who he was and even let on that I knew!

I always thought the show was pretty cool as well as thinking he was a pretty knowledgeable guy. I can now add another "personality" I've met to my list!

That's pretty cool John. I met a similar figure last weekend. I hadn't seen it before but there is a hunting/fishing show called 'The Sovereign Sportsman', I met the man himself, Eric Richey. Turns out his son and my daughter are Cheer partners at her HS, I've heard the word 'boyfriend used but am trying to ignore it. Eric was a really nice guy and did a few shows with wounded vets, he also has 2 Emmy's for his show. I stayed to talk to him after dropping off his son and seeing a car under a car cover. Turned out to be a '57 T-bird he's had for 20 yrs. Well that was my brush with fame and I didn't know it until after. Oh and I'm trying to get him to bring the Tbird to our club show in Sept.

I have crossed paths with many "famous" people since I travel nearly every week. Most I just "see" or maybe even exchange a hello but not much more. In some cases it is just that I shared a plane ride with them. The only people with any fame that I have truely interacted with would be the Monster Jam guys. The monster truck drivers and teams. I used to be a part of the RC Monster Truck racing and many of them raced RC Monster trucks as well. Soon we were invited to do intermission shows when they had shows at arena's. My family and I would hang out with them at the shows and even had diner with them. Not really significant or anything but it was fun. I still talk to many of them thru email or facebook even though we don't do the Monster Truck thing anymore. Probably the most famous of those guys would be Dennis Anderson of Grave Digger fame. He has an annual RC Monster Truck race at his Digger Dungeon in Kill Devil Hills. Bari, who now drives the Spiderman truck, asked me to help put on the show. Tara and I went to set-up the race and run the time keeping and scoring program. Dennis and his sons were pretty cool to meet and work with.

Mmmmm last weekend I bumped into...Sir Sterling Moss, Craig Jackson (Barret-Jackson), Vic Edelbrock, Derek Bell and Adam Corolla....All in the paddock area and basically you just walk on by them because they are having their fun at the track.

So every time you see someone even remotely famous you walk up and collide with them? I can't be sure but I would think a polite "Hey" might be preferred over the violation of their personal space.:confused:

Muhamad Ali on a flight from L.A. to Chicago also Diana Ross again on a flight from N.Y to L.A., Got to shake both hands.

What about me? I'm old, I'm (in)famous, and I'm always a topic of discussion....

There ya go Randy. If Craig hasn't met you yet, you're not famous!
BTW, if you go off on some strange tangent about what makes you famous, remember this:
I've met Craig and HE'S been on TV...I saw him!! :p

Been several months since I started this thread reviving an old one. The reason to add a post is because I get to add to my list of famous people I've gotten to meet at my job. For the past several weeks I have been assigned to the airport. Yesterday I was outside taking a smoke break and noticed a bunch of musicians loading equipment into several hotel vans. A guy walked up and starting talking to me about having been a police officer many years ago (I am frequently mistaken as police by passengers). He chit chatted about the weather and how he liked Charleston before leaving and getting into the van. The guy chatting with me? Eddie Money! Man he looks rough. Time has not been gentle to Eddie, but he was a super nice guy to talk with.

Good news bad news. Cool that you get to meet celebrities, bad news is that you are bursting into flames again. Why else would you be smoking? Thought you quit. {.}

Yeah, I know. I quit for 3 months which was a record for me. I was stuck in an office suffering absolute and utter boredom for almost 4 months. Not only did I start smoking but I put on 20lbs! I had never weighed as much in my life. I've since lost 10lbs and plan to try quitting next month when I get another assignment. Hopefully it'll stick this time!

I met Uncle Vinnie and Toni. Several times. Got to eat with them. Both. Also got group pics with them.....
