One of the best and longest running shows on the planet

they even like that show in other countries, which surprises me because some of the humor I am sure doesn't translate...

I must be unhip. I've never liked the Simpsons. Seen maybe 2 episodes in my life. Don't care for family guy either.
I don't care a whole lot for either of those shows either but when I am sitting in a empty hotel room in a foreign country and they run these shows, it's better than most alternatives.

I've watched the show since it debuted. PreviouslyMatt Groeining had a cartoon strip called 'Life in Hell' that set the stage for the Simpsons. Doh!

I used to work with a guy that introduced me to Nancy Cartwright- the voice of Bart Simpson. Nancy and her husband were driving around in a bright yellow VW square back with a picture of Bart on the side. And of course they called it the Bart Mobile.

There was a time when a couple of the posters in this thread would have the title "unhip dude" :p but alas we do not have that option anymore. :(

Now since we are posting about animation... Has anyone else watched Archer?

fd

I find no redeeming value of Archer. On the flipside of that coin, The Simpsons is one of the best shows on the boob tube.

Hasn't been any good animation on since King of the Hill.

From Wikipedia (so it must be true!):

Judge and Daniels conceived the series after a run with Judge's Beavis and Butt-head on MTV, and the series debuted on the Fox network as a mid-season replacement on January 12, 1997, quickly becoming a hit. The series' popularity led to worldwide syndication, and reruns aired nightly on Adult Swim. The show became one of Fox's longest-running series, third-longest as an animated series, after Family Guy and The Simpsons.

That's because the Hank Hill character is based off the old guy in B&B.
