My wife and I have been wanting to retire for some time. To do that, we have to do something with the business. We thought about just closing the door and walking away, but we both want the Opentracker idea of "Roller Suspension & Steering" to continue, to make these cars safer and more fun to drive. Our philosophy has always been geared toward preserving the classic car hobby/racing culture for future generations and keeping it A-Ford-able for everyone. To have the Opentracker idea continue, we would have to find someone special to make that happen, someone that is passionate about this hobby.
We did and his name is Daniel. He and his dad Jeff, who just retired from 34 years as an auto shop teacher, are taking over the operations of Opentracker Racing as of today. They are both true gearheads and have a lot of experience with cars. Daniel, as a young boy, spent countless hours alongside his dad under the hood of their 1965 Chevrolet Nova station wagon. Later on, he worked for a nitro drag racing team getting the car ready and running it at the track. He rebuilt one side of the motor in the 45 min thrash in-between rounds. He has competed around the world in automotive mechanic competitions pitting his skill and expertise against the best of the best. He knows how to turn a wrench and plans on making Opentracker Racing into something I would do if I was younger and had the energy. I believe he will do well with the business and I believe he is the right person to take over.
Shari and I are staying on for a while to help with the transition. We encourage you to continue to support Daniel and Jeff and their family as they will be working hard to carry on the Opentracker Racing legacy.
We have a trademark on the name and logo. Everything associated with Opentracker is going with the business, including this profile. The VMF was the starting point of Opentracker Racing, it would not have happened without this community. I want to give a huge THANK YOU! to everyone for their support over the last 20+ years, we truly appreciate it. This will be my last post as Opentracker.
My plans are to wrench on my own car(s) with my son, go to some car shows and run our car at some open track events
