OT Car help. GM battery error??

I just bought a wrecked 01 Monte Carlo for the engine & trans. Put a new terminal on the positive battery cable since the firefighters cut it, borrowed the 2 week old battery out of my truck, and it won't start. Turn the key and everything seems to come on normally, but when I turn it to crank, the dash goes blankc, the starter solenoid doesn't click, and if you let it sit with the key on, a picture of a battery comes up on the "message center". Fuses test good (continuity and 12v).

WTF? Google suggests passloc security problem, so I bypassed it...same problem. No check engine light, no codes. Just this neat picture of a battery. :censored :char

Car was rolled on Sunday...I figure it ran long enough to get the the scene of the accident. :steer Now it's Wednesday and it won't start? :wtf

Help me, Mr. Wizard.

Was there any other cables/wires that may have run to the battery that got cut and dropped out of site?

Oil level issue.....to low stops engine.

Fuel pump emergency shut off.

Those side terminal batteries are notorious for poor connection issues. Remove all connections, clean, and reinstall. Would also be a good idea to test the battery. 12V is actually low for a battery. Should be at 12.6V. Any parts store can test it for you.

I agree with AZPete. I think it is likely a emergency fuel shutoff switch. I know my EFI system has one that can be reset. It stops the pump from running if the car gets hit.

Well, I feel like an idiot, but...it wasn't in park. :char Turns out the shifter cable was frayed and the linkage wasn't moving, even though it felt like it was. Shifted it into park manually and voila!

good to hear you got it running but WTF does a battery icon show up when you have the tranny not in park? :wtf

The icon probably just notes a failed starter/electrical sequnce.
