Found out today that the FedEx driver we have had as our guy for 16 years died from a massive heart attack in his truck while he was working. Truck was stopped and he didn't answer dispatch pages. Another driver found him. He was only 44.
I know it's not like losing a family member but when you see a guy practically every day for years, he chats with you and always gives you a smile even though you screwed up the waybill, it's tough. He seemed fit and certainly got his exercise with his job but you just never know. He didn't have a wife or kids but he was close to his family and was known by one of our staff from high school.
Dean, you will be missed. :sad
