Owning Mustangs and the internet....

If not for the internet.....I wouldn't know that my cars must use mobile 1 and get the oil changed every 3000 miles or less, no matter what the books say, I cannot run a new car very long with less than 1/2 tank of gas or the fuel pump will burn up, I must spend un-godly amounts of money on only the top dollar parts or they will fall apart in my hands, I must lower every car I own and if I own a fast car, it must be raced in some fashion, I cannot run quiet exhaust and must go thru several sets to get just the right tone that all others will bow to, I never should go to a dealer for anything.......until they have a fix that no one else knows about, all mods must be approved by the long time members of the forum, paint jobs can only be done in colors that all others approve of, no matter what you like, classics must be done original or completely modded, no in between........and I know there is more cause I have not got to the end of the net yet......

I wonder how so many cars are still on the road without following these guidelines and more.

This is why StangFix is so good.........none of that crap......just good people with tons of good info.

I post on 4-5 other forums but seem to end up back here....I read a lot of them and find the ones that are very specific like concours or racing tend to be more informal and decent to follow. Now, we do need to build up the newer car section here.......

Guess I'm done ramblin' for now.....

I never would have restored Midlife myself without the damn Internet. Reading that several other folks had done so made me realize that I could do so as well, so I went about it to prove it to myself. I learned a lot, and now attempt to spread the knowledge that I gained in the process. Some examples come to mind:
Use bungee cords to tie down batteries
Use old stop signs to reinforce floor boards
Each sticker adds at least 5 hp

Seriously...the Internet had expanded the knowledge base to other hobbyists so their work becomes easier to do. Knowledge is power.

I've learned a ton here.

First thing I did when I bought the TA was find a good TA forum. The service manuals for those cars sucks....

Hands down, there is no better group than the one here though. I mean what would we do to fill our day if we couldn't pick on Mark and Duane?

This is why I come to this board. I go on other sites and start reading a topic, only to read 5 responses of people just making the original poster seem like a complete idiot. Thats when I just closed my browser and walk away. Im so glad we have this site and the awesome people on it.

:shee

Bruno or Midlife? Who's who?

Butt seriously, I can't think of too many forums which will bring a bunch of NorCal Mustangers together to the point that we now plan annual weekend trips together, Christmas dinners, Friday evening's Blender Madness, any excuse to drive our Mustangs over to each other's house to help work on someone's car. Have welding parties out in the shop.

Exchange food recipes too? :wtf

I am with Midlife.

LOL yes I did express myself the wrong way !! ( right know I feel I am the sheep )

But you all know what I mean !!

Feel free to correct me !

I agree with the others. There are many mustang forums that a newb like me could go to for tech advice, etc, but this is the site I got to everyday. And the only place where I invite who only 2 weeks ago was a total stranger (cmayna) to come see my car and give it the once-over. :pbj

Cmayna,
I can't cook so I got no recipes. But I'll give you a call around 11 to see where you are and what time you want to meet up at Schellville. I got the car back out again with new shocks/springs/tires/carb. She drives better but is still tail happy with those spring shackles, and I am battling some sediment in the fuel tank.

I am with all you guys when it comes to Stangfix. I am in Ireland where there no Mustang workshop and very few other people that can help me. There are some Uk and European forums but I feel more at home here even though I am thousands of miles away. I would safely be lost without Stangfix and the information super highway.

I know I would be lost without this place.
I don't think I would even be attempting an EFI swap if I didn't know I could get real answers with out getting laughed at here. :bowdown

So, I just need to become really offensive just to be left alone?

I can do that.

Yeah, you're kind of like the crazy old uncle that while you don't like to claim them in public they can often be very entertaining.
