P71 Crown Vic

My middle son, who put the DOHC in the 99GT, had an unfortunate timing chain tensioner failure. Cloyes setup for the motor was over $300 and you would expect it to last a long time. Anyway, as a result the cylinder head and valves are damaged. On a college kid budget he decided it would have to sit for a while. In the meantime he was driving our 07 and racking up the miles. My father-in-law passed away over a year ago and my mother-in-law got tired of driving the P71 Crown Vic so I offered to give her whatever a dealer offered her as a trade in. I went up to Chicago and got it a couple weeks ago. She had hit a light pole in a parking lot and banged up the passenger front pretty good, it needed a tire and a wiper arm. I got a tire and wiper arm and drove it 500 miles back home. It developed a missfire which turned out to be a coil pack. Anyway, did some work on it and gave it to my son so we could get our 07 back. He loves it!

I picked up a fender at the pick a part also but I need to paint it. The header panel is just black primer and I spray bombed the bumper. I’ll do a better job when it gets warmer.

it's a neat car, it was a detective car in the Naperville Illinois fleet. My father-in law got it from the city. It was pretty clean but my mother-in-aw kind of let it go... It runs and drives pretty well.

Do people slow down when he gets behind them? Or are your LE driving SUVs now.

Wish I keep the donar vic we bought for the front-end we put in Julie's truck. It has tons of good stuff, just did not have time to part it out, sent it to the scrapyard.
