Performance muscle car cold air kits - Reduce the induction of the hot engine air.

Good afternoon,

Since summer 2022 is coming soon, I got to thinking about the cold air induction the modern auto enjoys. We all know that the cold air helps produce more horsepower and maybe a little bit more gas mileage. I started to research Performance muscle car cold air kits and found the Spectre Performance brand. I found this Motor Trend article.

Spectre Air Box and Air Cleaner-

V6/V8 Throttle Body Injection & Carb Air Box

I have read that some of these kits have low base plates that may restrict the air flow. Also, they are not completely seal at the bottom.

Has anybody used any of these products? Has anybody come up with their own design? What do you think?

Aren't there any hoods for 71 -73 mustangs that incorperate some fresh air scoops ?
I believe the big blocks have.
Make the engine breath with cold air is something that keeps me busy for quite some time.

Hello B67FSTB,

Yes. The 1971 - 1973 mustang do have the ram air hoods. This would be the best scenario, plus it would keep it stock.

Such things would ruin my relatively stock engine bay. But If I had a 70 I'd install that twin hosed one and cut vents in the front pseudo vents.

I have one of these hanging on the wall in the garage. Always intended to fit it and spray it to go on my car. Love the look, lost the drive to do it. Anybody interested in it? You'd have to come get it but I'd give you a good deal.
