Picked up a fun commuter car

Well I couldn't pass it up, I'm changing jobs and my commute will double from 40mi. roundtrip in traffic to 80 mostly hwy speeds and the 115Kmi./20mpg Escape wasn't going to cut it (good excuse right? SWMBO bought it!).
Picked up a 2001 Miata Special Edition British Racing Green (3,000 made) with 67Kmi. for a great price, the few I have seen for sale were $10K with >110Kmi. this one was less than that with fewer miles. Drove it 5+hrs. @80mph in 6th @3,850rpm and it ran like a sewing machine, no issues. This thing steers/reacts amazing so far and I think it was neglected, looks like the bare min. was done to it which is the way I like to find cars. Got 29-30mpg through almost 3 tanks of gas and no tune up yet.

Wood Nardi wheel/shift knob/brake handle, 16in. polished alum. wheels, larger brakes, tan cloth top, leather, tan interior, Bose stereo, etc. with the SE BRG package. No ABS but I like the feedback of the brakes.

Seeing you pick up the vert was the reason I started looking for this car, I needed something used that would get >30mpg so that ruled out a mustang. We can do the Natchez trace as a warm up for the Dragon.

That's a fun little car. I looked at one back in the nineties and found out I don't fit in there.

I was in the same boat a few years ago. I have an 80 mile round trip commute and had to give up my wrangler for something with better mpgs. Looked at a bunch of verts and ended up in a volvo c70 vert.

Mark, how'd you find that pic so fast? I was only in that one parade so far...

I'm looking for a static cling rainbow for the bumper to tell my friends it comes from the factory like that.
Neighbors already came over to give me shart about it, I pointed out he was wearing Calvin Klein jeans :homo
Comment went over big with his gf, him...not so much.

I didn't think I would either at 6'1" but test drove one local and was fine with the fit, seat didn't even need to be all of the way back. Of course just like our mustangs there is a mod to fix everything. I'm going to do what the call a 'foamectomy' to the drivers seat. It's overstuffed and you can slice out 1-2" of foam without bottoming out on the metal seat pan. Depending on how much you trim it drops you an inch or more from the headliner and puts you into the seat vs. sitting on top of it like it is stock.

I looked at one close(not the green special) when I was looking for my daughter a newer car in high school---fun cars to drive---tough for my fat ass to get into!

Seriously, those Miata's make kickass track cars! So I've heard.

That sounds like fun. Can I go with?
