Picked up a M37 today

No, it's not mine, I just picked it up for my neighbor and transported it from the man he bought it off of. Did get the pleasure of driving it around the block a couple of times and it ran like a charm for a 50+ truck. I know one thing, it was a heavy sucker and I had to take it easy for the 100 mile trip home. I'm guessing with the winch it will come in at 7000lbs or so, just a bit heavy for my trailer. What a day.

That is a nice looking rig. There have been a couple around here once in a while.

Drove the heck out of them in Korea (71-72) and Thailand (73-74) and enjoyed them all the time. In Korea, we continually had to go to the security police unit to swipe the front drive shaft to go off road on midnight shift.

There is a lever that is beside your right leg that I'm not sure what it goes to. I have the e-brake, hi/low range, and four wheel drive figured out, but I'm not sure what this one is for. It has a wench and I'm wondering if that may be the power take off control. Any info on the operation and care of this vehicle is greatly appreciated.
