Pics - Hot August Nights, Reno NV

DEL65

Of The Morons
SacBill and I were in Reno this week for the show. The 400+ mile round trip in my 65 was uneventful. A big thunderstorm blew thru the area Thursday afternoon. Here are a few pics of our adventures.

Me celebrating our arrival, and proudly displaying my SF sticker.

Ominous clouds

Seeking shelter at the Summit booth

Wrong footwear for a rainstorm, but Racedeck helps a little.

Still cruising

Drenched ponies

After the rain, the party continues: friend Don (red 67 clone), yours truly, and SacBill. Next pic is in reverse.

looks like you guys had a great time. Seen a little on the tube while watching the Barrett-Jackson auto auction. Will it be the same time as the auction next year? That would make for the ultimate car show event.

I'm sure you all had a great time. :beer

Yes, the BJ auction was going on at the Convention Center at the same time. Our entry package included a 3 day pass to the auction. On Friday afternoon, Bill and I, went over there. We saw Roland Leong and Don Prudhomme signing autographs promoting an upcoming bio-pic. We took a look at cars and were on the auction floor for a while. It was packed.

Glad you guys enjoyed it. I was curious about the quality of the cars that cross the block, what's your take on'em? I know on TV they always look a little better than in person (I think). I've always wanted to attend that auction and if this one is gonna be tied into HAN's I believe I'd like to make that one some day.

You are right. The quality was mostly pretty good. Some crap was auctioned on Thurs, but of course, the quality improves as the weekend progresses. I saw a few restorations that were very well done, a few race cars, and some super rare models like a 69 Charger 500. 33% crap, 33% decent, 33% rare/well-done.

I found some of the vehicle descriptions to be unusual and amusingly inaccurate. One seller described a California Special as 'infamous.' Not than anything sinister occurred in that particular car, but the model itself. Also I saw a few uni-bodied cars described as 'frame on' or 'frame off' restorations.
