Picture day

I had to run into work for a couple hours this morning. Nice day so I took the Mustang. Driving home I noticed she looked dirty but really more dusty than anything.

When I got home I washed the Mustang and then thought it's a nice day and I've been meaning to get a picture of the Trans Am and the Mustang together. I just hadn't had the time to do all the car shuffling when the weather was cooperating.

Finally got a chance to take a couple of pictures of the two together today.

Does that make this car porn? I don't know but thought I'd post the pictures. By the way, you'll have to forgive the fact I suck as a photographer

Cool. Trans Am looks like a nicer car than described.

I've owned it since the middle of November or so and haven't really done much too it yet.

The paint is driver quality...a little rust in the lower quarter is starting to bubble up but it can be patched up. There are a few chips here and there but looks pretty good at about 10 to 15 feet.

So far, I've put three point belts in the back for the boys. I had a buddy of mine patch up the core support and replace the battery tray. He's a better welder than I am and he had time. Paying him a couple of hundred was a lot cheaper than the $350 they want for a new one before you pay truck freight.

Right after I bought it I gave it a good tune up, traded out the Q-jet carb for a rebuilt one and replaced the gaskets on both the headers and the valve covers. Had to put a new water pump on it. Also replaced several of the AC parts, (compressor, etc) and the AC is working now...welll sort of. It blows cold but only on two of the fan speeds. I haven't had a chance to figure that one out yet. I replaced the trunk seal / weather strip because it was leaking pretty bad. Also had a local exhaust shop patch up a couple of holes and replace the muffler on the drivers side.

My short term to do's are get the passenger side door to lock and get the power window on that side working. Need to get the tires balanced and put a bushing kit in the front end. Looking for a new radio because I don't like the one in it and it does not seem to have the right connections to hook up to the power antenna. Also going to chase down the remaining AC problem which I suspect is either the resistor or the switch.

I am having a moral debate since the car is pretty original but I think I'll eventually build a 400 for it and store the 403. However, it doesn't burn any oil and looked super clean when I pulled the valve covers off it so I am not going to worry about it anytime soon. The previous owner had the tranny rebuilt about a year before I bought the car off him.

Nice cars, but you're right...your pics suck. You should take some lessons from Rick.

You're just pissed that I didn't work the PT Cruiser in there somewhere. I would have just for you but the wife was at the hair salon. :Mark
