Picture of my dead/dying grass

After seeing RapidRabbits picture of his deck any yard I wanted to show him what it looked like down below him a few hundred miles---DRY! Only good from it is I have only mowed once in near 2 months! click on pic to enlarge/get full effect.

It's not dead, only dormant. It'll turn green again this fall.

I had just deleted pics of my grass as i thought it would be boring, we've had a drought the last couple months and 100*+ temps. My procrastination finally paid off, we went out of town for 6 days and I didn't have time to cut before we left. It rained most every day while gone, came back and the grass was a foot high! Taller than my push mowers engine. I cut it on Thurs. on high setting then again on Sun., filled 10 bags from the front yard and 6 from the back. My grass looks like thick carpet now :yah, my neighbors yards look like McFly's.

That's not brown. Mine was that bad too. Only reason it looks greens now is because the weeds took over. They can survive anything.

I normally do not post pics of others houses but I just noticed Midlife's house and how well kept the lawn is...

I killed all of the dollar weed in my front yard in the attempt to save the little St. Augustine grass I still had. What happens? The crappy Bahia grass that the city uses for roadside grass took over the entire front yard and has killed the St. Augustine grass.

i went a full month without mowing mine, then it started raining again & am having to mow every four days to keep up with it. funny thing is, usually in july when it gets hot & dies, it doesn't come back until the next year...

I haven't needed to mow the grass since June 9th. Which is fine by me since it takes 5 hours with a 5' mower deck.

I took over an hour off my mowing time when I went to a 52 inch exmark 0 turn---I think they are made somewhere in Kansas? Kinda cashy but seem to be well built--simple. I can usually mow in less than 2 hours--(under 1 acre with the buildings/house)

If I let my wife on the tractor to mow the grass, I'd lose the fences, trees, part of the house, the barn and maybe the wrap around porch.

It gets even better. It's a push mower.
