Pictures of my desk at the Ford dealer where I USED TO WORK----

Yep, the finance guy put me over the edge today--he was the biggest PR$%8 I have ever worked with, he made it impossible to work there. He is a friend of the sales manager and he makes the dealership a lot of money so he is going to be there a while --The owner asked me three times if I would work at his G.MC./Buick dealership when I said I was done --(I sold more cars since I was at the Ford dealership than the entire GMC store) I sold 14 in 5 weeks with no prior sales experience. I loved the job till I had to deal with the finance guy---I won't bother you with the details but this guy messed with me daily--not just joking either---he is a whacko.

Wow. That's too bad. Not only did it appear you had a knack for it but you genuinely seemed to like the job. Never a good thing when the "bad guy" wins. With your performance I think I would have at least done my damnedest to burn that jerk with the owner the best I could.

Rod,
Sorry to hear of this. I also quit my part time job today at a local bicycle shop because the sales manager there is a spoiled bitch! We need to have a couple beers together.

Rod, it is their loss!

I am sure you will find another lot that will be better to work at.

I went to the sales manager and said I feel like I let you and myself down, I also told him that I never came to him because I thought the squid would back off after a while, I said I was a big boy but I was not going to let this jerk ruin my health or home life--he is 62 years old--former police, green beret? --former north american some martial arts champion--he would do crap that was unreal--like tell me to say the full name of a vehicle on a folder he just asked me to bring him, (I handed it to him and said here is the folder for the used car you asked me for--he replied what car--I said the one you just asked me for--he said he wanted the year make and model when I handed him a folder--come on--the info is written in big letters on each one!) he told me crap like that on every deal--he wanted me to know he was my superior--not a coworker, really a nut case--I said we all needed to get on the same page---he said I needed to learn how to sell cars---I said I want to tell you something and he spoke loudly YOU are not going to tell me anything--I said you are right and walked over to my desk and unloaded it. The really bad thing is I think I could really do well there--Other than him I liked the job. He also said daily my shirt was wrinkled or my pants were, he made comments on trimming my beard,he said I talked too much, he was a a#1 A$$hole!--

that sucks....

you should have tried my approach to people like that:

"your shirt is wrinkled"... "your mother doesnt think so"...

"your beard needs trimming"... "your wife likes it the way it is"...

"you talk too much"... not when i'm with your sister"...

this sort of approach usually shuts them up, or they blow a gasket & look like an idiot in front of everyone else. all the while i just shrug my shoulders & say "i dont know whats up with them"... :roll

Sorry to hear of this, but it's not worth staying there if that's the BS you'd have to put up with. All it takes is one dickfor to make it miserable. If you like the job, try another dealership under another owner. If that owner and GM don't recognize that guy's an ass, it won't get any better.

Been in the car business 18 years. I've managed stores as well as sold. It's a rough business sometimes with co workers. Sorry to hear about your job.

Its funny, I've bought quite a few new cars in my life so far and each and every time the process went along just fine right up until I had to meet with the 'finance guy' at the dealership and on several occasions the 'finance guy' was such an asshole I left the dealership without making a purchase and put entire lines of cars on a personal do not buy list because of it.

But for some reason, they keep looking for the same quality/personality in that job. I think it is some form of physiological approach they teach at 'car dealer university' that the average car buyer won't feel fulfilled in their buying experience unless they have to deal with a real dick and beat people over the head for price so that they can go home and feel like they got one over on the shit head at the dealership and bought a $500 warranty for $50.

I have had rough co-workers (near 20 years driving a mixer) but this guy was the whole package--he was x peoria Illinois cop(ego the size of Montana) Martial arts champion --(thinks he is still 18 and indestructable) he is stuck in his past--he has worked many places so I am thinking he must not be that great at finance---also he bragged how he could screw people on financing and they never even knew it--that is one thing to do it but another to brag about it--not my style I guess. I honestly wished it would have worked out--I gave it a month trying to get along with this jerk. I have limits also.

He sounds pretty insecure to say the least...

I'd question how good he really is at the arts...most of the real bad asses I know are pretty humble about it and don't go around bragging about it. Heck, I have a friend that is a former recon marine who is about 45 years old and has been training / teaching martial arts since he was 10 or 11 years old but you generally wouldn't know it unless he had a reason to tell you other than just to brag about it.

One thing about training on the mat (or training right anyway) is it will make you humble some days. I don't care how big / bad you are there is always someone bigger or badder.

From what I can tell the folks in the car business move around from dealer to dealer a lot. If you liked the job, try another dealer.

Getting pretty sick of some bs around my place as well. Just hit 10 years here...if it weren't for the Obama economy I would not be hitting 11 years. However, probably going to stay put at least in the short term.

You made it longer than I could have Rod. Life's too short to go through that every day. Good luck.

Sorry to hear the jerk let a good job go bad for you. Sounded like you were really doing well there. Hopefully something better will work out at another dealer maybe.

Same here and good luck with the search. :thu :thu

I can relate, the boss of my company is a real bitch and difficult to work with. Oh wait, I'm the boss...

Good luck, Rod!

I met the boss of your company in Des Moines, she seemed pretty nice to me but I never had to work for her--thanks for making me laugh.

I had the pleasure of meeting Laurie at the 45th in B-Ham. I think the boss she speaks of must be her evil twin!! LOL
