Does anyone here play poker/cards?

We used to get to get together locally with a bunch of friends once a week for a fri/sat poker night, but it kind of died out.

In my spare time of late I've been playing on PokerStars.net.

Would anyone here be interested in meeting on an on-line table at a set time each week for a couple hours of Texas Hold'em? They have a chat feature and it would just be another means of assemblying.
 
Sounds like it might be fun.

Never participated in the online thing. Share some details with us.
 
I'm sure y'all would love to have me there since you'd basically be able to take my money. Always seemed like a fun diversion, but not one I've had a lot of experience with.
 
I haven't thought too much into it....

I guess the first step would be going to PokerStars.net and downloading their free game software. Once you've downloaded the software and registered/set up an account, we could decide on a night/time and then meet in one of their game rooms. We wouldn't be able to keep strangers out though..... Each table seats nine players and anyone outside of our group would likely go to another table after reading us chatting. The games are played with "play money" poker chips. There is no bank account or credit card info involved in the registration process. I believe they have real money tables, but I've never been stupid enough to venture there.

I'm playing right now.... and still waiting for a hand worth betting on.
 
Definitely. I wouldn't EVER play on-line poker with real money.

Some people do, but if I remember correctly there was a fiasco a couple years back on a "real money table" where some hackers got in and could see everyones hand. Screw that. I have enough going on to throw away money, I don't need a gambling habit.
 
I've played enough black jack to border on criminal but never tried poker. I'd be willing to try learning though...
 
Let's give this thread a few more days and then we'll figure out a day/time when it's most convenient for everyone to play. Anyone else interested in meeting/playing please chime in.

i'd be interested on more info... Never tried the online stuff.
 
my wife plays spades every night on-line. I might join up but can't guarantee I'd be free every week. I don't know usually where I am going to be week to week until the last minute.
 
I'd be up for that.

but my work schedule is not the same every week, so I might miss some nights. :cry
