Polish the merc headlights today

B67FSTB

The NorCal dude from Belgium
Nothing new but just wanted to share and say that this wasn't hard to do.
If I can do it , anybody can.
Just some elbow grease and products.
Wet sanded with 800 , then 1000 , and last with 2500.
Used 3M plastic restorer and 3M plastic polisher with and excentric polisher machine.

Here is the result after 2.5 hours labor :

Merc's are also known here as Mercurys, a recently abandoned Ford product line.

Bruno...over here they are referred to as Benz...."have Charles bring 'round the Benz"

And let me know if all your hard work lasts on those lenses.

He's old...he forgets to type all the thoughts in his head.

those kits they sell are a scam! can you see the difference in drivers/pass lights on the mrs Altima?

I use a plain white paper towel & a little dab of clearcoat safe compound. it takes about 30 seconds of polishing per light. a minutes total labor & about a nickel's worth of materials & its done. don't spend big bucks on a kit...

I've just wet sanded the lens with 600 grit the follow up with a 7" polisher with cutting compound. This seems to work fine but probably should step up to 800/1000 before cutting and polishing too. If you have materials to cut/buff clearcoat then the same basic principles seem to work on headlights too.

sand those out to 2000 & it will make polishing a breeze. if they are really rough & sun baked, I've seen guys clearcoat the headlights after wetsanding with 600. most cases really don't need sanding, just polishing. I hit mine with a little polish every time I change the oil & it keeps them in good shape.
