I've been conducting an informal sociological poll among friends about by comments made by SWMBO while we drive and would like to open it up to the forum. This can pertain to any car you ride in together, it's not confined just to Mustangs.

Sexist poll :roll

Normally hubby and I drive our own vehicles. Of we go somewhere together in my GT, I drive. If we go in his truck, he drives.
If he drives any vehicle for long distance, he likes to fall asleep at the wheel. He calls is road daze. Then, and only then, I bitch at him about his driving. Even if I offer to drive, he says "I'm fine..." and then I have to bitch at him more for not letting me drive so he doesn't kill us.

He has a bad reputation for wrecking vehicles. I do not. Perfect driving record. :part

Not really. SWMBO has learned to trust me totally since we ride the motorcycle and have experienced a myriad of driving situations.

After 33 years of her behind me on the motorcycles back seat, as mentioned. she trusts me fully. mountain roads do that.....lol Any comments she makes normally are along the lines of "Well, that didn't go so good" or "Glad no one saw that". I drive 99.9999999% of the time when we are together. I make her nervous when she drives with me in the car. We never have had his and her vehicles.

I taught her how to drive when we got married, I taught the motorcycle safety class she was in when she got her motorcycle lic., and I have taught numerous other family members to drive. Nothing like passing on aggressive driving techniques....lol

We're in the car and she has to make some comment about my driving. She sometimes puts her hands on the dash over the air bag to brace herself for the pending impact that never comes.

Now I keep track and tell her, "Well, since we left the house, it's taken you 1 1/2 minutes to make your first criticism about my driving.

I don't see this on the poll. When I drive, SWMBO is basically looking at various things, keeping fairly quiet. Then, all of a sudden, she'll say in a loud voice "Look at That!" which startles me. Once, while driving in the Alps in a one-lane road with a sheer drop-off and no guardrail, she wanted me to look over the edge at something or another. No way in hell was I going to do that!

She drives most of the time and I have to sit there and take it.

All the time! But the real question is do I hear her or even listen.

We just did 600 miles of twisty turning roads through the redwoods hearing nothing but slow down, these roads are dangerous.

Deb used to side seat drive until she asked to go on a hot lap at the track. She said she'd never say anything again. I guess I scared her enough to realize the street driving was tame!

Mine normally says something or suddenly grabs the dash for a possible impact when I'm behind the wheel in her Subaru. Otherwise she normally doesn't say too much. That gag I put on her really works well.

In the Hilux she always says something then grabs the "oh shit" handle. I usually tell her to put her glasses on as she has no perception of distance

Mine usually complains that I drive too slow (I usually stick to no more than 5mph over). Now when SHE drives, it's me quaking in fear! I usually drive the entire trip to avoid that or just drive until I'm worn out. Then I lay the seat back and go to sleep. I figure if I ever die in a wreck, at least I won't have seen it coming! :hide

Just to add, alaina now yells slow down from the back seat too. Momma taught her that this week.

In short ....All the time !!!
I am driving too aggressive , she says .
But driving aggressiv keeps me alert.I have my driving license for more then 35 years now and had no accident what so ever.( knock on wood ) (We have here the densest roadinfrastructure of Europe).
In the early days , when their was no DUI test on the road side , she felt more save when I had a little too much.
I even used my turnsignal lever when changing lanes !!

When driving the fastback , I drive more safely/defending.

Talk about good driving records, Shari has never got a ticket in her life, ever. Never been in an accident either. How in the world did she do that? She's been pulled over twice but only got a warning. Must be the blond hair. I have to say that I have no complaints about her driving. I don't worry about her taking any of the classic cars down the road. She never scrapes the tires on the curb and never gets a door ding. Nice having a car gal in the house.

Shari has never got a ticket in her life, ever.

Same here. Been pulled over once in my life and that was in San Diego for expired tags and only got a warning. No traffic violations for speeding, or anything. Ever. I don't get it. I drive like a bat out of hell too. :shrug

And folks say women are bad drivers? pffft!! :guns

I just get the gasp of fear coupled with the death grip on the oh shit handle which startles the hell outta me.
