Positioning of radiator clutch fan

DILLIGARA?

How close to the radiator fins can the face of the clutch be? Knowing that the motor is tilted up slightly, the bottom of the clutch is closer to the fins of the radiator as compared to the top.

The issue I am having is that the 24" fan shroud is not very thick so I am trying to push the fan forward as much as possible, but with the current set up, I'm lucky if 15-20% of the fan blades are in the shroud. Trying to go 50%.

I would stay about 1/2" from the rad. at the closest. There should be no front to back movement of the engine, just up and down a bit with the torque.

I'm wityh Pete, 1/2 is as close as I'd get. While the engine is tied down, a broken mount could allow some movement forward with torque.

I've seen electric fans run closer, they aren't attached to the engine.
