potential dumb question....Header adapter??

Fantastic

I have been putting my car together for a few years now. The project is moving at a snails pace because I work out of country. Lately I've been thinking about exhaust and headers etc..

The car is a '69 Mach I with 351w, 4sp. I built a good, mild performance, tough-as-nails engine using an original block and high end components including Edelbrock RPM performer heads and intake.

The issue is with the exhaust, and particularly the headers. I'll likely go with FPA headers. We have tried a few different (cheaper) brands already and none have fit correctly. Part of this may be the car, part the Edelbrock heads that I used. Although I'm sure the FPA heads will work, the thought has poped into my head that I could build a spacer that would act as a port alignment from the Edelbrock heads to the original FACTORY exhaust manifolds. The question, What would be the power/performance implications? Has anyone else attempted this? If so, what results? If not, what reason?

Much thanks,
Fantastic!

IMO, if you are going to put factory manifolds on the Edelbrock heads, you'll lose much of the gains you made. Much of the gains on these haeds is from the improved exhaust (SBs have crappy exhaust in general). With factory hi-po manifolds, you might not lose much, but why not a good set of shorties?

Does Edelbrock have no suitable headers?
I would go that way so you haven't any los of power in that area.IMHO
