Power Floor Jack?

I've finally gotten my 22-foot enclosed car trailer backed in on the new driveway next to my house, but it's a bear to do it. Today, I found the easiest, and maybe only, way to do it is to get it as far as the front of the driveway, unhitch the truck, move it over, then rehitch to back up straight. To do it right, I need to repeat the unhitching manuever. The problem is that I'm blocked by a huge transformer box and can't angle my truck over enough to straighten the trailer, not hit the house, and not hit the box. I did take out the gutter downspout but it's being replaced anyway. I reattached it with duct tape.

Rather than doing the third rehitch, I tried my floor jack and I am able to lift and push the trailer by myself. It's not easy, but I can do it. It's really hard to move it side to side. What I am wondering if there is some kind of power jack that I could get that would make it easier to move the trailer around without the multiple unhitch/rehitch bother?

Sorry, no pictures right now, it was dark by the time I quit tonight. I'll get some tomorrow.

At Barrett-Jackson, I've seen a battery or man-powered device that lifts the front of the car so that a person can maneuver it around a bit.

I imagine you can use a similar device on the trailer tongue. Why not go to your biggest RV dealership and ask how they move their trailers around?

I used to use one of those 12 volt winches designed for ATV's when I had to move my bigger trailers or one with a car on it. Had a couple of hooks installed around the outside of the garage and could pretty well put it anywhere I wanted to with some experience.

I've seen hitches made to attach to the front of a truck, makes moving trailers in tight quarters much easier.

Power Trailer Dollies are pretty expensive, around a grand. I thought HF sold one, but couldn't locate it. Here is their manual version $50:

I had something similar to the picture ZFORCE has up when I had camping trailers. My rig was homemade with a hand crank connected by gears and chains to drive the wheels. You might find something similar at a camping supply store like Camping World.

Laurie, try installing a ball on the front of your truck. then you just push the trailer in. I have seen it done and done it one time with someone else's trailer and it is slick. The other thing to do is to use a lawn mower of 4 wheeler like I do around my house.

I think I'll get one of the Powermover AC units. The curb weight of my trailer is 3300 pounds and there usually is about another 300 pounds of stuff stored in it. So, I think their AC5 unit will work. At least I don't have to move the trailer until late next March so I can save up for it.

Find someone with a hitch on the front of their truck and try it out. Cheap fix and super cool! You will be surprised where you can put your trailer....Like at shows and all, you can park the thing just about anywhere by just dropping it and turning your truck around and hitching it up and pushing it around.

I was going to suggest the lawn mower idea but then remember seeing pictures of Laurie's lack of lawn. Anything with a short wheelbase would make it easier to manage. The power mover would be make things real easy.

Mel had the right idea with a front mounted hitch or ATV/tractor type mover. I use a 1948 tractor, with a hitch on both ends, to move my horse, car, and water tank, trailers around the farm to either position them for hookup to the truck, or to park them when I'm done. With trees, buildings, horses, dogs, and the occasional person, I can't be looking in a mirror. Can't take it with me, but works great here.
