I checked with my buddy yesterday and we are still looking at the Mustang being out of jail in 10 days to two weeks time frame.

Here are a couple of progress pictures:

The paint on the door looks orange in the picture but for the record it is just the lighting in the picture, I am not going grabber orange or anything of that nature :)

yeah, I think it helps though that all they do is old cars and restoration work at John's shop. You don't get stuck in a competition of priorities with someone's DD that the insurance company is paying for a rental car on and riding the shop's backside to get out, etc.

When I dropped the Mustang off they were doing some body work on an old truck and primed it that afternoon. Then they for whatever reason wanted to let the truck sit for a few days so they did my body work and put mine in primer. Then mine was sitting for maybe a week while they painted the truck. We've already got the new springs on the front end and the disc brake kit installed. Just need to finish up the paint then put it all back together again.

Looks great!

My car has been in jail for 18 months now. I have some pics of the paint in my build thread, and different pics of the paint look like totally different colors based on the lighting.

Stopped by the shop at lunch today. She's painted.

They just need to buff the car and put everything back on. Should be ready the first part of next week.

I am going to check with my friend and see if they have plans to work on it on Friday. Might have to be sick that day to go and help finish up with the assembly, LOL!

Color looks great. Did they paint it with the glass in the car?

Won't be long before it's back home. You must be getting excited!

the reason they let them sit for a few days after priming is so the primer will cure out good & is less apt to pull sand scratches after paint is applied. primer shrinks as it dries & if final sanding & paint is done too quick, sometimes sand scratches appear a few days after its finished. thats why alot of the production shops bake the primer after applied to force cure. car looks great! wish i had time to pull mine in & paint it. i'll be lucky if i get the brakes & t-5 swap done this year....

That's interesting to know. I am hardly the authority on paint but I figured it had something to do with letting things cure.

One thing I failed to get a picture of yesterday when I stopped by was a '69 Mustang they had in for a transmission swap out. It was a pretty sweet car with a decent looking 351, MSD set up, etc but appeared to be an older restoration just judging by the looks of the motor. It was putting them behind though. Apparently, they were going to swap the tranny but the guy had three inch exhaust headers and the new larger tranny wouldn't go in so they ended up having to pull the motor so they could hook up the new tranny then reinstall them together.
