Projection TV. Where to buy?

DEL65

Of The Morons
It's time to replace my 10 year-old Sharp projector TV. The cost to replace the bulb is so high and the replacement projector prices are dropping so I might as well get a new one. The local vendors are not much help.

I have a 92 inch screen and the projector is about 10-12 feet from the screen and is ceiling-mounted. I use it for movies and special TV shows like NHRA and football.

I'm looking for a basic projector in the $600-$800 range. HD and high lumens are preferable. Otherwise I'm wide open for suggestions. Initial web-browsing has me overwhelmed and really confused.

Are there any decent online sites I can browse?
Any questions I should ask prior to purchase?
Can I expect good cust-service from a web-purchase?

Thanks.

The bulb in my sharpe went out too. I replaced it for $150 and it works good, well sort of. When it is cold, I have to wait for 1/2 hour before it will fire. I have to shut it down and fire it up and so on until it fires.

Anyway, when I was looking to replace it instead of just the bulb, I found some deals on ebay for NIB units. Also a place called Evertek. They may not sell to the end user though. You may have to start a business account with them. I still have my account from the computer store if you see something you like.

Also try newegg.com. I found some decent deals there to with lots of good info to figure out which one to buy.

HTH,

A quick search will get you some results. I think even Sam's carries a few different units ranging from $600-$1500 dollars. I'd like to know what you end up finding as my next upgrade will be to a projector.
