Promotion at work

Even though I've known about it for a week or more, now that it was announced "officially" today I can share my new title at work.

My new title is "Director of Tax and Estate Planning".

Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue but will look good on the resume I guess, LOL! :pbj

Congrats, always good to here someone is getting a promotion in this economy.

Hopefully you can now afford more Mustang goodies.

Good going. I'd ask your advice, but I'm sure I don't have enough change for somebody with that title ;-)

Thanks guys!

We had someone retire. I work for a wealthy family in their "family office" and we have about zero turn over. Only way you get to move up the ladder around here is if someone retires or dies.

Holding off on that one for now. Wife's job is not doing so hot right now and she will either be a) cut to part time or b) on the unemployment line pretty soon. She makes more than me so hoping she can line something up pretty fast.

We have plenty of savings so not worried about it if she gets laid off (at least in the short term) but funny thing about savings, it's easy to take money out but a real battle to put the money back in. Starting to plan ahead and look for ways to cut our expenses now just in case.

Maybe you can help me...I wish to have someone's estate but not their tax burden. Can I do that by hiring a hit-man and before the person dies, have him sign a new will giving me everything?

This is the sort of thing you work on, right?

Congrats on the promotion.

Be careful Mid.....the wife may catch on to your plans and turn the tables on you and hire her own hit man.....

Rule number one....never be worth more dead than alive. If your wife takes out several large policies on your life be afraid, be very afraid.... :skul

Sounds like the wife's situation may work out. Basically, she hates where she is at but it's hard to look for something new when you're working night and day. The partner she works for decided when she adopted a kid she was only working 40 hours per week and doesn't mind stealing everyone's staff on a regular basis to make sure that happens. There's a problem though...if someone steals your staff and you have deadlines guess who gets stuck picking up the slack to meet the deadlines? Both wife and other senior manager in their department are about fed up enough to stage a rebellion on par with Libya. My wife finally got miserable enough that she went in and told the partner she was giving two months notice to transition things while she looks for a new job or she might be willing to work 32 hours per week (taking Fridays off) at around 75% salary until further notice. It is difficult for a small firm like that to find decent staff so it sounds like they are going to be game for the 32 hour idea. We can easily make it at that pay rate but I'll probably cut out a few expenses like the yard man for good measure. Those boys of mine are 9 1/2 and I was pushing a mower around by that age so they can pitch in and help.

Better get the new bid'ness cards ordered. :pbj

The lady from HR already came by yesterday to make sure I didn't want to change anything other than the title on my cards. They either are already on order or should be very soon.

Congratz on your new position and NO , it doesn't hurt to give the kids some small work at home.!!!!!
