Proud Papa!

Yak, yak, yak
The weather was gorgeous today, but my Saturday wasn't spent workin' on the car! I'm certainly not complaining though. My time was spent traveling to Columbia, SC and sitting in the Carolina Center (aka Colonial Life Arena). My daughter (the oldest of my two) proudly walked across the stage to receive her B.S. in biology (pre-med). I couldn't be more thrilled with her accomplishments. Not only did SHE plan what she wanted to do with her life (which is to eventually become a pediatrician), but she researched all of the available grants, scholarships and funding she could get in order to pay for it. What impressed me the most is that she did it all on her own, without our knowledge and began working on it when she was in the 11th grade. When she announced she wanted to go to college, she already had her ducks in a row!

Initially she was accepted into the Corps of Cadets at the Citadel. Unfortunately she stayed through the first weekend and changed her mind. This set her back a semester in her first year. She marched on though. She struggled some with her MCAT's and didn't have high enough scores for the medical school she wanted. This hasn't deterred her and she decided to enter post graduate school in a medical field where she can continue her education towards achieving her final goal. She has been accepted into the Citadel again come fall and will be working on her masters degree.

I know we can be a little biased when it comes to bragging on our kids, but this one has definitely got her act together! I have a few pics I'll post tomorrow, I have to get them transferred off of my camera. I shot video at the ceremony because we were in the nose bleed section by the time we got seats. I did get some of her in front of her sorority house after graduation though.

While she doesn't get on here, I'll still say it...CONGRATS baby, dad's proud of you!!! :yah :yah :thu :thu :thu

That's great. Congratulations.
Sounds like you taught her right.
You should be very proud.
